We used a microphone and a thermal printer to capture and translate the atmosphere of different locations into printed sound waves. The microphone listens to the surrounding environment, while the printer slowly transforms the loudness of each moment into lines of dashes, creating a visual trace of the space’s unique rhythm and energy. Rather than recording sound in a conventional way, the project turns fleeting noises into something physical and permanent — almost like a diary of a place. Small time marks printed every minute emphasize the passing of time, allowing each strip of paper to become a quiet memory of the environment and the emotions carried within it.
